A leading white goods manufacturer from Mumbai- India’s foremost producer of White Goods and plastic products, required the development of a mobile app for their field sales team.

The field sales team uses this app to schedule visits, record sales activities, generate orders, submit expenses, and enhance customer contact during visits. They can track delivery status and compare targets with achievements.

The management in the case study required the company to implement the solution within a few weeks and solve the past problem.

THE SOLUTION 

FieldMI, enterprise mobility experts, collaborated with the business and IT teams to deploy the application on Android and iOS phones.

Existing systems can integrate the platform, which includes customer, route, product, visit plan, warehouse, and open information features for its users. Technical staff use a specially developed mobile app to efficiently record data on site. An external system creates important business intelligence reports by transferring the recorded information to it. The platform enhances data accuracy and facilitates informed decision making within the organisation.

THE RESULTS

The mobile application was successfully rolled out to 150 field sales personnel within 3 weeks, including a round of testing and pilot run with select business users.

THE CHALLENGE

A well-known group in the Building Material Industry- Company entered the timber and building materials trade initially to meet housing demand in urban and rural areas. The user plans sales call visits, documents sales activities, creates purchase orders, and monitors delivery status using the application. The Secondary business sales team simplifies target and achievement comparisons by integrating with their SAP ECC system.

Management mandated the company to roll out the solution within a set time frame and address the past issues experienced in mobile app development.

  1. Product wise discount management : Price determination via SAP ECC integration through SAP SD pricing procedure.
  2. Multi city, Distributor, State wise prices & management: Seamless integration with SAP SD module. Adapting organization structure such as sales area, route info and master data such as customer master, product master into mobile application.

Case Study-

a. Creating sales orders requires adapting processes from SAP SD, encompassing tasks like customer group assignment, migrating and adapting sales hierarchy, route determination, customer partner details, integrating pricing procedures, validating material inventory, conducting customer credit history checks, and managing various sales order customization data.

b. Additionally, there is sales order synchronization, ensuring real-time tracking of invoice status.

c. Field staff expense claims submission is seamlessly integrated with SAP FI, enabling document posting and GL data migration.

THE SOLUTION

FieldMI, recognized as enterprise mobility experts, developed a strategy in collaboration with the business and IT team to deploy the application on Android and iOS phones. The existing ERP system, “SAP,” was integrated with the platform, enabling the retrieval of master information about customers, routes, products, visit plans, stocks, and outstandings. The SalesMI mobile app was subsequently deployed on this platform, featuring contextual help to assist the sales force in recording information while in the field. This recorded data would then be transmitted to SAP, enabling the generation of critical business intelligence reports.

SalesMI mobile application was successfully rolled out to 100 field sales personnel within 4 months, including a round of testing and pilot run with select business users.
